Collegiate Grants- USTA National Foundation
NOVO NORDISK DONNELLY SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship is named in honor of Tracey Donnelly Maltby and Diane Donnelly Stone, who along with their father, Bud Donnelly, all played Division I collegiate tennis while affected by the challenges of Type 1 Diabetes. Tracey played singles and doubles for four years at the University of Iowa and received All Big Ten honors. Diane was a three-time All-American and 1987 NCAA Doubles champion at Northwestern University and will be inducted into the 2022 ITA Collegiate Tennis Hall of Fame. Bud played singles and doubles for four years at Western Michigan University and won six individual Mid-American Conference titles. Novo Nordisk, a global healthcare company that’s been making innovative medicines to help people with diabetes for nearly a century, has been the title sponsor of the award since 2002. The scholarship is also supported by Dexcom, Cecelia Health, and Tandem Diabetes Care, Inc.
This scholarship is available to high school students and those currently enrolled in college who have excelled in academics and tennis, have strong leadership and community involvement skills, and have been affected by diabetes.
The USTA Foundation will award up to $75,000 in scholarship funds to Two (2) National Winners in the amount of $10,000 each; Ten (10) Regional Winners in the amount of $5,000 each; and, Two (2) NJTL program grants in the amount of $2,500 each.
These scholarships will be awarded to students affected by diabetes who are entering a four-year college or university program, intended to support the student’s cost of tuition, educational materials, and other related expenses at the college or university the student selects. These scholarships will be paid directly to the college or university in which the student is enrolled.

Sectional
SOUTHERN JUNIOR PLAYER ASSISTANCE GRANT
The purpose of the Southern Tennis Foundation’s Junior Financial Assistance program is to support youth ranked in the Southern Top 100 with expenses to USTA National tournaments. The award is dependent on the number of approved players, reimbursement receipts, and the committee’s budget. The average annual award is approximately $3,000 but will not exceed $5,000. 2026 Guidelines
Youth must be ages 12-18 at the time of application.
Youth must be ranked in the Southern Top 100 at the time of application.
Family income must be $100,000 or less with one eligible junior and $120,000 for a family with 2 or more eligible juniors.
Juniors must first apply to their USTA State Office for financial aid.
The 2025 Federal Tax Return must be uploaded to the application.
Players (parent/guardian) with more than two suspension (code of conduct) points are not eligible for aid. The committee will review on a case-by-case basis.
We reserve the right to ask for additional documentation as deemed necessary.

PLEASE NOTE: Once approved, grantees will receive an email with instructions on submitting itemized receipts. An expense form for the 2026 reimbursement period will also be included.

JUNIOR PLAYER ASSISTANCE GRANT
USTA Tennessee has a foundation called the Tennessee Tennis Patrons Foundation, and it is through this foundation that USTA Tennessee can offer several grants to its community. Two of those grants are available for junior competitive tennis players.
The foundation provides awards of $500 each to junior players to encourage athletes who compete in the USTA tournament structure.
Criteria for selection:

Family income must be $99,000 or less for a family of four (or equivalent for larger families)

Good Sportsmanship

Participate in Tennessee and Southern team events and in Tennessee Qualifier events

100 percent commitment to the junior competitive tournament structure

Participate in publicity and recognition

Open to athletes in the 18, 16, 14, and 12 and under age divisions

Southern Ranking of Top 500

Acceptable expenses include fuel, hotel meals, and tournament entry fees

JUNIOR CAMP SCHOLARSHIPS
The foundation funds two Tennessee juniors to attend a weeklong residential tennis camp at Sewanee, to encourage participation in the USTA tournament structure. This is a great way for coaches and providers to encourage talented players (new and advanced) to pursue competitive tennis. The deadline to apply is March 15, 2026.
