  • The Executive Committee shall consist of the President, President-Elect, Secretary, Treasurer, one other person selected by the President, and the Executive Director acting ex officio. The Executive Committee shall be empowered to act as necessary for the benefit and management of USTA TN, including but not limited to the creation of an annual budget and periodic strategic planning and evaluation. The Executive Committee shall be responsible for reviewing the goals and objectives of USTA TN annually, and sending to the board recommendations for improvement or modification of the goals and objectives. Such recommendations will include any cost estimates necessary to meet the goals and objectives. The Committee shall act in accordance with the Articles of Incorporation, the By-Laws of USTA, USTA Southern, and USTA TN. Consistent with the foregoing, the Executive Committee may adopt and implement procedures regarding corporate governance including the budget creation and submission, annual meeting schedule, strategic plan, corporate mission plan, and leadership transition/succession planning. The Executive Committee may exercise the powers of the Board of Directors in the time periods between meetings of the board of directors. The President will notify the board of directors in writing of the actions taken by the Executive Committee no later than the next meeting of the board.

  • The Committee shall consist of the Immediate Past President (or other past officer appointed by the President if the Immediate Past-President is unable or unwilling to serve as such Chairman), who shall chair the committee, and 4 additional members selected by the Nominating Committee chair. The other committee members besides the chair shall not be current members of the Board of Directors.  The Committee, in consultation with the President, shall prepare a slate of nominees for Officers and Directors to be voted on at the Membership Meeting and Annual Board Meeting in accordance with the provisions of these Bylaws. Such nominations shall be filed with the Secretary 30 days prior to the date of the annual meetings. The list of nominees shall be made electronically available to USTA TN by the Secretary at least 30 days prior to the annual meetings. Any member may nominate additional nominees for election and such nomination must be submitted to the Secretary 15 days prior to the annual meetings.  Nominations from the floor may not be accepted during the Membership Meeting or the Annual Board Meeting.

  • The Grievance Committee shall consist of at least 3 members appointed by the President. It shall be responsible for enforcing the Bylaws, Articles of Incorporations, and the rules and regulations of the USTA and USTA Southern, which are adopted by USTA TN, all rules and regulations of USTA TN, and the standards of good conduct, fair play and good sportsmanship. However, all grievance and grievance appeal actions arising out of USTA, USTA Southern or USTA TN Adult League programs will be administered according to appropriate USTA Regulations. The Grievance Committee shall establish specific operating procedures for administering all grievances filed with USTA TN, except those arising out of USTA, USTA Southern or USTA TN Adult League Programs. These procedures and any subsequent changes shall be submitted to the Executive Committee for approval. The Grievance Committee shall have the authority to impose any of the following penalties: (A) Reprimand; (B) Probation; (C) Suspension from participating in any tournament or other events sanctioned by USTA TN; (D)Loss of certification and/or sanction; (E) Fine, in an amount not to exceed $500; or (F)Any combination of the above. The Executive Committee constitutes the ultimate appeal authority for any grievance action coming under the purview of the full Grievance Committee. Any decision on an appeal to the Executive Committee will be considered final and binding unless otherwise specified in these Bylaws or the Bylaws or regulations of USTA and/or USTA Southern. Any suspension may be vacated by the Executive Committee, provided compelling evidence supports such action.

  • The Constitution and Rules Committee shall be composed of a Chairman and 2 other persons appointed by the President. This Committee shall review USTA, USTA Southern and USTA TN regulations, By-Laws and Articles of Incorporation as well as any proposed amendments for consistency and clarity, and shall submit recommended changes to the Executive Committee.

  • The Outreach/Diversity & Inclusion Committee shall consist of at least 4 members appointed by the President.  The Committee will review the programs and services provided to communities and organizational members.  The Committee will make recommendations to the Board in all matters regarding to diversity & inclusion including but not limited to committee and board representation, outside vendor transactions, and outreach programming events.  The Committee will develop an annual plan for conducting annual outreach programs.

  • Adult Committee encompasses Adult Leagues, Adult Leagues Championships, and Southern Senior Cup team selection and competition. This Committee may be split into separate committees at the discretion of the President.  USTA TN owns the Adult Leagues Program, the Adult Leagues Championships, and the Tennessee Southern Senior Cup Team, which it operates and provides in partnership with community tennis associations and other providers. USTA TN exercises complete administrative, fiscal, and qualitative control and oversight of the Adult Leagues Program, the Adult Leagues Championships, and the Southern Senior Cup Team.  The Adult Committee has responsibility for establishing and implementing grievance procedures for leagues and league tournaments in accordance with the USTA and USTA Southern policies, procedures, and regulations.

  • Junior Committee encompasses all levels of youth players under the age of 18. This Committee may be split into separate committees at the discretion of the President.  The Committee studies and recommends policies and programs for all junior activities to the board of directors, develops uniform guidelines for junior player rankings, coordinates special events relating to junior tennis, assists with the selection for USTA and STA junior events including the Southern Junior cup Team, Southern Closed Tournaments, decides issues relating to the Junior Waiver Committee, and facilitates the placement of junior Tennessee players in the collegiate pathway.  The Committee interacts with the USTA and with USTA Southern to ensure compliance with those organizations’ rules, regulations, and procedures regarding junior competition.

  • The Finance Committee monitors the financial investments of USTA TN and reports quarterly to the Executive Committee and annually on the investments’ condition to the Board of Directors. The Finance Committee shall be composed of the Treasurer and at least two other members of the Board.  The Committee oversees the accounting and financial processes of USTA TN and proposes a written Investment Policy Statement and selects and monitors the investment manager for their performance, determines changes in asset allocation when needed and reports to the Board.  The Treasurer, with the assistance of the Executive Director, shall insure that the accounts of USTA TN are audited annually and are reviewed by the Finance Committee .for the purpose of overseeing the accounting and financial reporting processes and audits of the financial statements.

  • The Awards Committee is responsible for: 1) Developing and administering an awards selection procedure and ceremony that will honor individuals and organizations that significantly contribute to and serve the game of tennis in the Tennessee District; 2) Ensures that there are award submissions for district award categories. 3) Collaborate with CTAs, providers, and committee members as well as identify ways to promote award winners in local communities through PR avenues; 4) Administer selection process of award winners in early October; 5) Help with set up of the awards ceremony which is held at the USTA Tennessee Annual Meeting.6) Makes final recommendations of every award which is submitted to the President for final approval.  The President has final approval of all district award winners. 7) Once district awards are approved Awards Committee submits list to section office and is responsible for the promoting of district award winners at the section level.

  • The USTA Tennessee Tennis Officials Committee is responsible for: 1) Solicitation of prospective umpires and referees; 2) Teaching, training and developing umpires and referees through online courses and in-person workshops; 3) Recommending qualified directors/referees that can give assistance to tournaments upon request; 4) Development of materials and information that might be helpful to tournament directors relating to tournament draws, scheduling and other related areas; 5) Making recommendations for awards to the USTA Southern and Tennessee.

  • The purpose of the Past Presidents Committee, as a Standing USTA TN Committee, is to serve as an advisory working group, provide guidance to the Executive Committee and Board of Directors and assist the Board in activities as designated by the Board. The duties of the Past Presidents are:  1) Support the vision of the Organization; 2) Serve in an advisory capacity to the Officers and Board of Directors as needed or warranted; 3) Support the Board in approved activities as defined by the Board.
