Memphis Tennis Association to hire Local Community Coordinator

Memphis Tennis Association has been awarded grant money from USTA Tennessee and USTA Southern to hire a Local Community Coordinator (LCC). One of MTA’s goals this year is to increase the number of junior tennis players in the Memphis area. While Memphis has the largest number of adult players, the number of junior players lags behind most other Tennessee CTA’s. This position will be used to focus primarily on growth in this much needed deficiency.

This is a paid position that will require the person to work closely with the MTA and USTA Tennessee in helping develop and promote junior programs. We are currently working on a project with the Shelby County Schools introducing tennis to the schools. The LCC will interact with the schools, pros and tennis centers working toward increasing the number of junior players with the intent of these players ultimately becoming USTA members and playing in Junior Team Tennis.

We estimate that the person holding this position would put in 800 hours annually and receive $12,000 in compensation. There would be funds available to cover program expenses as well. Metrics have been established in hopes of meetings very attainable goals. If you have a passion to see the junior program thrive and sustain and are interested in this position or have questions about it please contact MTA President, Tim Clements at or call Tim at 901-219-3341.
Applications will be taken through February 15, 2014 with interviews beginning immediately following. It is our intent to have the person in place by the end of February. To apply simply submit a resume along with an email detailing why you are interested in this position to
