Community Center Challenge
Hosted by Nashville Metro Parks & Recreation and USTA Tennessee, team spirit echoed through the gym at Southeast Community Center for the 2nd Annual Community Center Challenge. Kids and leaders from nine of Metro Park’s Community Centers gathered to put their tennis skills to the test. The centers that attended were Hadley Park Community Center, Southeast Community Center, Hartman Community Center, Parkwood Community Center, Sevier Park Community Center, Paradise Ridge Community Center, Watkins Parks Community Center, Madison Park Community Center, and Shelby Park Community Center.
The Challenge culminated after-school tennis programming that the centers have offered over the past year. The after-school tennis curriculum came from USTA TN's Beginner Youth Program, Rally Cats. With the partnership with Metro Parks, hundreds of kids have been introduced to tennis over the last four years at Community Centers around Nashville.
Players and centers were rewarded for team spirit, sportsmanship, and head-to-head wins during match play competition. A golden racquet was awarded to Hadley Park Community Center, the winner of the 2nd Annual Community Center Tennis Challenge.
