December 17, 2015 01:09 PM

NASHVILLE, TN December 17, 2015 - Nashville native, Brian Baker, plans to make his triumphant return to the pro tennis circuit at the 2016 Australian Open.

Over the years, countless injuries and surgery recovery have kept Baker out of the game: two left hip surgeries, right hip surgery, sports hernias, and elbow reconstruction. However, he has qualified for the Australian Open by using his protected ranking. Brian-Baker2

Baker has defeated top ranked oppenents such as Gael Monfils (No. 24, France) and Benoit Paire (No. 19, France) earning him a career high ATP ranking of No. 52 in the world in 2011.

Injuries continued to flare up until Baker played his last match at the 2013 U.S. Open against Lleyton Hewitt.

As 2016 rolls around, Baker, alongside coach Ricardo Acuna, is ready to show tennis fans everywhere that Brian Baker was down but certainly not out.
