Juniors Shine at Summer Events

The 2019 Tennessee Junior Qualifier (May 31- June 3) kicked off the summer tennis season in true fashion on the first weekend of June in Chattanooga. Keeping with tradition, the event cultivated a social and family atmosphere as nearly four hundred players and their relatives from across the Volunteer state gathered in the ‘Nooga for competition. The event featured a pre-tournament player clinic (benefitting the Sean Karl Foundation), player dinner, college tennis forum, and on-site photography; along with the popular mini tennis, corn hole, and Spikeball sets this year! Dry weather and milder, summer temperatures provided optimal playing and spectating conditions, which certainly added to the overall experience.

USTA Tennessee would like to extend our thanks to the tournament staff, sponsors, and volunteers that made this event possible. We would like to especially thank the following partners for their support of the event: Laserfibre, YourGameFace, Events with Taste Catering, Tennessee Tennis Patrons Foundation, and the Chattanooga Sports Committee. Lastly, we want to thank college coaches Patrik Hynes (Lee University) and Felix Mann, for speaking at the Friday evening college tennis forum. Visit and like our Facebook & Instagram pages (@USTATennessee) to view photos.

Congratulations to the players below who were nominated for daily sportsmanship awards, along with the overall winner of Leland Goldston Sportsmanship Award, sponsored by the Chattanooga Tennis Association.
